Sunday, May 29, 2011

We at Ironwood have been very busy installing the new garden and working on new hand crafted items for the shop. We  have some very nice antique items that have arrive and they will be listed shortly and a few new rare books are up for sale.

For example:

Viridarium Umbris. The Pleasure-Garden of Shadows.

Arbor Infernis Edition with handdrawn talisman.

The book is in mint condition. It is numbered 44 of 77 numbered copies, with original hand-drawn talisman in card sleeve. This special edition is textually identical to the original issue of Viridarium Umbris.

"Xoanon Publishing Limited, sole publisher of the Sabbatic Craft Tradition, is pleased to announce to its subscribers the release of a special edition of Viridarium Umbris: The Pleasure-Garden of Shadows, by Daniel A. Schulke, Magister of the Cultus Sabbati. This special edition is limited to 77 numbered copies, casebound in Moss-green cloth with Mandrake's Death Head blocked in gold on the front cover. Each copy is accompanied by an original hand-drawn talisman of colored ink on papyrus, bearing one of 77 Emanants of the Arbor Infernis -- the liminal genii of Midnight's Eden. The volume is 544 pages, with more than 70 illustrations.
"An extensive grimorium of Wortcunning, or herb-magic, the Pleasure-Garden treats of the secret knowledge of trees and herbs as delivered by the Fallen Angels unto Man. The book's principal concerns are the sorcery and gnosis of the Greenwood. The work encompasses magical practices, formulae, and mystical exegesis, all treating the respective arcana of plant genii. The whole is intended as a textual reification of occult herbalism within the Sabbatic Craft Tradition, and the greater ambit of Witch-lore."
